NSCDC nab woman in Obudu, Calabar for parading herself as a medical doctor

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Obudu on Thursday May 4, arrested a woman identified as one Stella Akagbusi for allegedly parading herself as a medical doctor.

According to CrossRiverWatch, the suspect who is currently in the custody of NSCDC was nabbed following a tip off from the Community Relations Officer, Emmanuel Akwagiobe about a week after her initial release following an arrest.

"Further findings reveal that Stella met her waterloo when she treated a particular Mr. John who operates a photocopying shop at the NSCDC field office and charged him 9000 Naira. John reportedly said he had only 3,000 Naira on him and asked her to return in two days which she agreed to. On the fateful day, Stella began harassing John for her balance and according to sources, John resorted to questioning the rationale behind her desperation for the balance and alerted the NSCDC who swooped in on her residence and picked her up"
Investigation by officials of the NSCDC revealed that Ms Akagbusi whose identity card was also seized, is a fraudster. She graduated from Madonna University where she did not study any science related courses but parades herself as a “Specialist” who works with GNLD, a food supplements marketing and networking company. She was later released and warned to desist from practicing which she did not pay heed to and was re-arrested a week later.
Further investigation revealed that Ms Akagbusi is not alone in the fraud as she has colleagues operating in Obudu and parts of Obanliku (Bendi, Busi and Utanga) local government areas.
When contacted, the Health Commissioner, Inyang Asibong told CrossRiverWatch that she is currently unaware of any medical outreach program in Obudu and will swoop immediately into action to investigate the issue.
